Hi, my name’s Nick, and I’ve been living in China working as an English teacher, translator, and interpreter since September 2007. I’m interested in languages (mainly Mandarin Chinese), writing, filmmaking, music, and travel–mostly around Asia. I spent three years in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province teaching English at a college and two years in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province working as a cultural liaison at a foreign manufacturing company. I hope this website can be a window in to what life is really like in China for myself. Most of the site is filled with places in China most people haven’t heard of. I figure there is already plenty of information on the internet about crowded places like Shanghai and Beijing, but not enough on the smaller cities like Zhongshan and Jiaxing. These cities are my favorite in China since for me they feel like stepping into a dream world. It’s not always a pretty dream, but it’s definitely something you’ve probably never imagined existed.

If you would like to contact me you can do so by sending an e-mail to nick@chinalifefiles.com or sending me a message on the contact page. Looking forward to meeting you.
